Wood Window FAQs

Are Delco windows and doors made in Canada?

Yes — every window and door we sell is manufactured right here in Toronto at our own production facility. We have been building Canadian-made products since 1989, which means our windows are specifically engineered for the temperature swings, humidity, and freeze-thaw cycles that Ontario homes face every year.

This matters because products made for milder climates often underperform in a GTA winter. When you buy from Delco, you are buying direct from the manufacturer — no middlemen, no imported products rebranded with a Canadian label.

What makes Delco windows more energy efficient than what I currently have?

Our windows are ENERGY STAR certified and built with a combination of features that work together to keep heat in during winter and out during summer:

  • Low-E glass coating — a microscopic metallic layer that reflects heat back into your home in winter and blocks solar heat gain in summer, without affecting natural light.
  • Argon gas fill — an inert, odourless gas sealed between the panes that insulates better than air alone.
  • Multi-chamber vinyl frames — multiple sealed air pockets in the frame profile that reduce heat transfer at the edges, where most window heat loss occurs.
  • Triple-pane options — for maximum performance in rooms facing north or exposed to wind.

Most older Toronto homes lose up to 40% of their heating energy through windows and doors. Our ENERGY STAR-rated products can reduce that loss significantly, which is reflected in lower gas and hydro bills year-round.

What is the difference between double-pane and triple-pane windows — and which do I need?

Double-pane windows have two layers of glass with an insulating gas fill between them. They are suitable for most GTA homes and are ENERGY STAR certified. They significantly outperform single-pane windows and are the most popular choice.

Triple-pane windows add a third layer of glass and a second gas-filled chamber. They are best suited for rooms with higher heat loss exposure — north-facing walls, corners, large picture windows, or rooms above unheated garages. They are also noticeably better for noise reduction, which is why they are popular on homes near busy roads or highways.

During your free in-home consultation, a Delco specialist will assess each window opening and recommend the right option for each location in your home — there's no need to apply the same solution to every window.

How long will my new windows and doors last?

Our vinyl window frames are built to last 30 to 40 years under normal residential use. Vinyl does not rot, rust, peel, or require painting — it holds its colour and shape through decades of Ontario weather.

The sealed glass unit (the insulating glass between the panes) is warrantied against seal failure, which is the most common long-term issue with windows. All Delco windows and doors are backed by our lifetime transferable warranty, which covers both manufacturing defects and installation workmanship. That warranty transfers to the next owner if you sell your home — a genuine added value when listing.

Steel and fiberglass doors typically last 30+ years with minimal maintenance. Wood doors require periodic refinishing but can last the lifetime of the home when properly maintained.

How much does it cost to replace windows and doors in Toronto?

Because we manufacture our own windows in Toronto, we can offer factory-direct pricing without the markup that third-party retailers add. As a general guide:

  • Standard casement, awning, or slider windows — typically range from $400 to $900 per window installed, depending on size, glass type, and any custom finishes.
  • Bay and bow windows — typically $1,800 to $3,500 depending on size and configuration.
  • Steel entry doors — typically $1,200 and up for a single door installed.
  • Fiberglass doors — typically $2,000 and up installed.

These are starting ranges — your final price depends on the specific products, your home's existing frame condition, and whether a retrofit or full-frame replacement is required. Every quote we provide is itemized, in writing, and guaranteed — the price you're quoted is the price you pay.

Are there government rebates available for replacing windows in Ontario?

Yes. Ontario homeowners currently have access to rebates through the Home Renovation Savings Program (Save on Energy), which provides $100 per eligible window opening for ENERGY STAR certified windows, with a minimum of three windows required.

Toronto homeowners may also qualify for the City of Toronto Home Energy Loan Program (HELP), which offers financing for energy efficiency upgrades including window replacement, up to $125,000 at stated low interest rates — repaid through your property tax bill over time.

Note: the federal Canada Greener Homes Grant and Loan programs are both closed to new applications as of 2024–2025. Be cautious of any company still advertising those programs. Our team stays current on active programs and will walk you through what you qualify for at your free in-home consultation — no obligation required.
